I have fully installed the Linux RedHat 6.2 with the X-Windows
settings; 8-Bit SVGA, 640x480, CT65555.
Then, it worked fine. To achieve higher resolutions and color depths, I
followed the steps below as root.
First of all you need the graphic card information;
# SuperProbe [Enter]
It results; First video: Super-VGA
Chipset: Chips & Tech F65555 (Port Probed)
Memory: 2048 Kbytes
RAMDAC: Generic 8-bit pseudo-color DAC
(with 6-bit wide lookup tables (or in 6-bit mode))
Then you should run X-Windows configuration tool; # Xconfigurator [Enter]
It gives the information below: PCI probing found a:
PCI Entry: C&TIF65555 HiQVPro
X Server : SVGA
- Select Ok
- Monitor Setup -> Custom -> Ok -> Extended SVGA, 800x600 @ 60
Hz, 640x480 @ 72 Hz.
- Select Vert Sync -> 50-70
- Select Probe OK (During this process move mouse randomly, otherwise it
somehow waits!)
- Video Memory -> 2 MB
- Clockchip Configuration -> No Clockchip Setting (recommended)
- Select Video Mode as you want (16 bit, 800x600 good choice)
- Test the configuration.
That is all.
